WhatMeds securely downloads your medication information from Medicare to allow you to have at all times your list of medications which were paid for by your Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage plan. The app provides you with detailed information about each medication including the pharmacy which dispensed it, the prescribing doctor, and an authoritative description from the National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus service. This description includes how to take the medication, its side effects and why it is prescribed. WhatMeds also provides you with safety warnings for medications that contain Opioids which can result in addiction, identifies medications with potentially severe drug-drug interactions, and indicates medications which are usually inappropriate for those 65 and older. These safety warnings and the MedlinePlus information help ensure that you and your doctor can work together to ensure that you receive the best and safest care. When you are seen by a doctor or nurse, you can easily share your current medication list with a QR code created by the app. All of the medication information downloaded by the app from Medicare is kept private, only stored on your phone or computer, not stored on any remote server, and cannot be accessed by Humetrix, which created and maintains WhatMeds.
